What frame of mind do you have when you pray? What are your expectations; are you expecting a miracle?
Therefore I tell you whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours. Matthew 11:24
Matthew 8 tells us of the faith of the centurion. He believed that it wasn't even necessary for Jesus to come to his home to heal his servant. He expected it to be done and all he needed to do was ask. Jesus' reply to this was " truly I tell you I have not found anyone in all Israel with such great faith " Go! Let it be done as you believed it would.
In chapter 9, we learn about a women who knew in her heart that she could be healed if only she could just touch the hem of his garment. And Jesus said to her " Take heart daughter, your faith has healed you. "
Another example of great faith is the canaanite women in chapter 15. She believed that all that was needed was crumbs from the Master's table. Jesus said in response to her act of faith " Women you have great faith! Your request is granted "
Do you see the pattern? Jesus rewards those who show great faith and trust in Him. Still, we cling to anxiety and worry and we forget the one we pray to created the sun and moon and holds us in his hands. I pray the Lord will help us to have great faith like the centurion and to know that all we need to do is ask and believe.
" Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. " Hebrews 11:1
"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. " Hebrews 11:6
