2020 has been a difficult year for most people because the COVID-19 pandemic took us by surprise. For many, it was the first time they were experiencing a pandemic. The year has been marked by the loss of loved ones, jobs, businesses, property, homes, etc. The pandemic has made us realize that we can only trust God to help us because He is the only One in control of all things. Through the pain we have encountered due to the pandemic, we can trust that God has a plan for each of us. He never wastes our pain but instead turns it around for our good. Romans 8:28 tells us that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and have been called according to His purpose. This means that God uses the good, the bad, and the ugly in our lives, and makes sure that it works for our benefit, and brings Him glory.
God's glory will be revealed.
The bad things we have experienced this year are nothing compared to the glory that will be revealed when God performs miracles in our lives. God will keep every promise He gave you, and will make sure it comes to pass in your life. Your situation may look contrary to the word that God gave you but that should not worry you. A pandemic cannot stop the promises of God from being fulfilled in your life. God is above any circumstance that will ever trouble you in this lifetime. Jesus told us in John 16:33 that in this world we will have trouble but we should take heart because He has overcome the world. The things we must face today like wearing face masks, social distancing, movement restriction, and separation from loved ones should not make us lose heart because we have a Savior in Jesus, who will not allow our lives to be destroyed. He said that in Him, we have peace, and we can rest knowing that we are safe in His loving and caring arms. Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted and He will take away your pain and suffering (Isaiah 61:1). Take your pain to Him today and allow Him to do a good work in you. He understands what you have been through this year, and will come to your rescue. His plan is to restore your joy and everything you have lost due to the pandemic.
God has a plan for our lives.
God says in Jeremiah 29:11 that He has a plan for each of us, one that is meant to give us a good future and hope. His plan is still intact, and we can take His word for it. When you feel fearful about what the future holds, declare this Scripture and trust the Lord to bring it to pass. God knew that we would face a global pandemic that would scare the whole world and cause major setbacks in our lives. He also knew how He would help us recover from it. He will not leave us with the pain that it has caused our hearts. He says in Joel 2:25 that He will restore our wasted years, and that includes 2020. When you feel afraid, remember that God has not given you a spirit of fear but one of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Cast out fearful thoughts from your mind, and activate the power God has given you to overcome your current struggles.Have faith in God's saving power and don't allow fear to take root in your heart or mind.
There are lessons to learn from the pandemic
As we wait for the covid-19 pandemic to come to an end, we can learn great lessons that will help us in future. The world is experiencing a reset, and things will never be the same whether in church, school, work, business, and every area of our lives. We have to learn how to adjust for the preservation of our lives, and that of our families. You can ask God to direct your steps to wherever He wants you to go.
Work dynamics have changed and the employer-employee model will not be sustainable for most people. We have to adjust to what work looks like in the future so that we can have an income to sustain our lives, and make it through any storm in future.
The pandemic has shown us that we are more resilient than we think. We have endured things we never thought we would, and came out stronger. We are more than conquerors through Christ, who gives us strength. He has seen us through this year, and we can celebrate the fact that we can look forward to a new year with new beginnings.
We have no control over when the pandemic will end, and we can only be patient as we wait for the deliverance of the Lord. Patience will keep us calm and peaceful, and not given to making hasty decisions or extreme reactions to situations. With patient hearts, we can think clearly and hear God's heart for our lives. Even in the middle of all the chaos we are encountering, we can trust that God will still hear and answer our prayers.
Conclusion
As 2020 comes to a close, we can reflect on the goodness of God. He has given us the grace to make it through the pain and suffering we have endured. If we are to make it going forward, our hope needs to be in the Lord, and not on earthly things like money or material possessions. Our eyes should be on the Lord only.
By trusting God, we can look forward to Him coming through for us in our time of need. He promised to never leave or forsake us. He hears our cries and answers us with His sure salvation. He is always close to us, and especially when we are going through difficult times. Lean on Him today and experience His peace and joy.
May your 2021 be filled with the peace of Christ and the salvation of our God.
